It’s official: Amazon Prime Day 2022 will be July 12-13. Although Prime Day is usually a two-day deals event, we’ve in the past years seen some deals go live days before, as well as few sales the weekend before the big event.
During past events, Amazon has floated early access sales on its own products – like the Echo Dot smart Speakers and Kindle eBook readers – so if you’ve been thinking of picking up Amazon-branded devices, keep an out for early savings. Other online vendors like Target, Best Buy, and Walmart will almost certainly offer competing sales, affording shoppers a variety of deals to choose from.
In the meantime, keep an eye on this page. The ARS Guide team tracks Prime Day deals every year, scouring tens of thousands of discounts. We only publish the best deals on items we recommend, so you don’t have to worry about scoring the value for your buck in the course of the deals season.
We’ll continue updating this article to bring you up-to-the-minute analysis and everything you need to know about Prime Day, including the early access deals and global price trends. Until then, check out below what’s available right now, you might be lucky to make some savings before the Prime Day deals go live.
What’s Amazon Prime Day?
If it’s your first time, Prime Day is Amazon’s faux holiday designed to primarily sell Prime memberships. Despite what the name suggests, it’s actually a 48-hour deals event. Usually, the 2-day deals marathon is celebrated in summer, but in 2020 it was delayed into October due to the pandemic that caused significant stock shortages across just about every product category. For 2022, the annual sale is back to the usual summer timeline, and we’re just a month away to the deals event.
How can you make the most of Amazon Prime Day 2022?
The best deals are reserved for Amazon Prime members, so if you want to take full advantage of the sale, you’ll likely want to pick up a membership if you’re not already in the program. This year, Amazon announced an increase in prime’s annual membership fees, from $120 to $140; and the monthly membership fees is rising from $13 to $15.
There’s a way to see what Prime Day has to offer (and what Prime overall has to offer) at no cost, and that’s Amazon’s free trial membership. It’s exclusive to new users, though, so you can take advantage of it only if you’ve not been an Amazon Prime member in the past 12 months.
Paid or free (trial) membership nets you access to free, fast shipping, as well as Prime Video, early-access Prime Deals, Amazon Music Prime, and other Prime-specific. You can sign-up via the links below:

Early Prime Day sales start June 21
While the majority of Prime Day deals will be reserved for July 12 and 13, there are still savings to be made leading to the event. In previous years, Amazon has kicked off Prime Day with a whole week of teaser deals in the run-up to the main event, and it’s been confirmed that will be repeated again this year. However, this year the deals will start significantly earlier.
Early-access Prime Day deals start from June 21 this year and will include up to 55% off select Amazon devices, up to 50% of Fire TVs, and more deals from major brands like De’Longhi, Dove, and SodaStream. Confirmed deals going live on June 21 include:
- 55% off select Amazon devices
- Fire TVs
- Amazon Omni Series 55″ 4K Fire TV
- Pioneer 43″ 4K Fire TV
- Toshiba 75″ M550 4K Fire TV
As Prime Day can often be very limited or only available for a short window, you’ll need to keep a closer eye on the deals if you want to score the biggest savings. That’s where we help. Make sure to keep it locked to ARS Guide as we bring you up-to-the-minute coverage of Amazon Prime Day 2022 over the next month.
