The Acer Aspire AZ3-710-UR54 is an all-in-one desktop PC that is well equipped with premium features which offer solid performance. The Aspire is a multipurpose desktop that will handle all your basic tasks like web browsing, medium media editing, entertainment, home office use and college assignments with a great big-screen thereby making it worth your consideration.
The device comes with a 4th Generation Intel Core i5-4590T processor, an IPS display and 1TB storage among others. For budget buyers, its a system that will offer powerful performance without spending too much. It is a good choice for a home/office use laptop.
Design
The Acer Aspire AZ3-710-UR54 measures 23.31 x 1.42 x 15.63 inches (LxWxH) and weighs 25.3 pounds. The 23.8-inch screen has a 1,920-by-1,080 resolution, much better than the 1,600-by-900 resolution of the business-oriented Acer Veriton Z VZ2660G-I34130X ‘s display. The display has edge-to-edge seamless glass, like the Dell Inspiron 23 (2350). Both the Dell and Acer PCs use 10-point capacitive touch technology, which is both more compact and more capable than the 5-point optical touch technology on systems like the Lenovo C560 Touch.
The machine has a beautiful design which resembles the iMac’s Signature design points with a hook-shaped metal foot that lifts the system up to eye level. A single hinge connecting the stand to the PC has a tilt range of -5 to 25 degrees to accommodate a variety of seated and standing positions. It’s hard to get overly excited about this Aspire Z3 from a design and hardware perspective. It’s a capably executed device with average features: nothing more, nothing less. Speakers below the screen produce enough sound to fill a midsize room, though there’s not much bass for music or movies.
The floating design of the display means that you can stow the wireless keyboard under the screen easily. The included wireless mouse and keyboard connect via a pre-installed USB dongle on the side of the system. The two peripherals work well together, though the key feel is a little mushy.
Connectivity
The Acer aspire features a USB 3.0 port, headset jack and an SD card reader located on the left side of the chassis, right below the button that controls screen input, . On the right, you’ll find the Power Button and the DVD burner. Back ports include an audio-out jack, an Ethernet port, a HDMI-out port, an HDMI-in port (for connecting to a Blu-ray player or even a new PC once the Aspire Z becomes obsolete), a microphone jack, two USB 2.0 ports, and another USB 3.0 port.
The system has 802.11b/g/n 2.4GHz wireless connectivity adaptor or Gigabit RJ-45 port for accessing the internet, but it doesn’t support the newer 5GHz 802.11a/n and ac Wi-Fi standards. It also supports Bluetooth 4.0.
Performance
The Acer Aspire AZ3-710-UR54 sports a 4th Gen Intel Core i5-4590T which is a medium-level quad-core processor seen on desktops. The CPU features a 6MB cache with a speed of 2.0GHz that could clock 3.0 GHz with Turbo Boost thereby delivering efficient power and fast performance. It also comes with 8 GB DDR3L SDRAM that provides fast performance good enough for handling different tasks including running of multiple programs at once, handling student work, modern games and hard workloads smoothly without any power lag.
In terms of storage, the device comes with 1TB SATA Hard drives that reaches speeds of 5400rpm which is more than enough for storage of your HD movies, digital photos, multimedia files. It is also possible to load your files onto the desktop from your DVD OR CD easily with the presence of the built-in DVD Drive. The presence of a DVD Drive is a surprise to us since optical drives are slowly being phased out on all fronts in favor of USB flash drives, cloud storage, and streaming video, it’s nice to see Acer acknowledge that many people still own and rely on movie DVDs and data/program DVD-ROMs for entertainment and data retention.
