Electric bikes have changed the entire pedaling experience, especially for exercise and health reasons, now allowing us venture longer distances and visit more place. The Ancheer Electric Bike is a mid-tier e-bike that offers a powerful motor that makes cycling up hills less strenuous, and it looks beautiful.
The model we’re reviewing sports and mountain bike design and rolls 27.5-inch wheels, but is also available in other sizes and colors. It is powered by a 350W brushless rear hub motor and a 480Wh battery that combine to deliver excellent distance range, making it among the best electric bikes you can get for under $1000.
While the Ancheer Electric Bike doesn’t offer the comfort and power of more expensive electric bikes like the VELOWAVE Electric Bike, it remains a better choice over similarly priced e-bike. Let’s see how it stacks up against its closest competitors.

Design & Assembly
The first thing you’ll notice is the removable battery pack, which makes it obvious you’re riding an electric bike. The frame is otherwise typical of a standard mountain bike that we often see in the neighborhood.
Few electric bikes yet have their batteries and wiring hidden inside the frame, and the fact that they are removable for in-house charging, it makes sense to have them outside for easy access. Still, the Ancheer electric bike isn’t the sleekest we’ve seen around with all its wires visible, but you can easily unlock the battery pack with the key and take it indoors to charge (it takes around 4-6 hours).
The Ancheer bike comes about 80% assembled, in a standard shipping package, so you need the usual simple steps to have it all together. You’ll need approximately 30-45 minutes to get it from the box to ready to ride. After unboxing, all you need to do is attach the included front wheel, handlebar, and seat post.
After that, you need to attach a few other components but that should not take much time. Like all bikes, you’ll need to secure the digital display, reflectors, bell and headlights (you need batteries, but not included). This bike also comes with a small tool kit and very detailed instructions for every remaining step in the assembly.
Above the assembly, the user manual includes step-by-step instructions for adjusting both the front and rear derailleurs, should you decide to do your own maintenance or repairs. The final step should be sliding the battery on the bike’s downtube and plugging it in for the first charge.
Ride Features & Comfort
The Ancheer Electric Bike is a comfortable ride and comes with smooth handling in most riding scenarios. Whether you’re cornering at high or low speeds or sampling cruising downhill, it remains calm and responds well to your inputs. All that is possible thanks to the larger wheels, tires and the suspension fork helps dampen the ride and cushion the edge from serious impact.
The components attached to the Ancheer bike work pretty well; neither the drivetrain nor the brakes require any serious adjustment out of the box, and once assembled the bike is ready to roll without any tinkering. The 21-speed Shimano drivetrain offers a wide gear range and delivers easy pedaling even if you run out of battery mid-ride.
On any bike, electric or manual, the braking system plays a crucial role. On the Ancheer electric bike, the mechanical disk brakes offer some great performance, although they feel a little inconsistent sometimes, with a stopping distance of around 21 feet from full speed. This bike comes with a suspension fork, with almost 2 inches of sticky and inconsistent travel. While helpful on significant impacts, it’s more of show off than its suspension performance. Also, it comes with 1.95-inch-wide tires and a bit of knobby tread on them. Being higher volume tires, they help smooth over rough terrains and provide good traction should you choose to some light-duty dirt road or trail riding. However, we can’t recommend doing any hardcore mountain biking on this bike despite looking like a mountain bike.
To wrap up the bike’s comfort features, the seat is comfortable for long periods. It doesn’t have an adjustable stem, but it gets decent seat heigh range and Ancheer claims a rider height of 5’1” to 6’4” but any rider can still get some proper leg extension while pedaling out with the height maxed out. Well, if you’re a tall rider, you can still use this bike but you’ll need a longer seat if you intend on pedaling.
That said, while the saddle is comfortable, it can feel a little hard if you’ve been using a softer saddle on a different bike. Fortunately, it uses a standard rail system so you can easily replace it with a more comfortable one with just an Allen key.
Performance
The Ancheer Electric Bike comes with a 480Wh battery (48V 10Ah), which is fairly above most models in this price range. For electric bike and pretty all other electronics, the more battery capacity you have, the longer you can travel, and this bike proves that. Using the throttle only mode, you can travel upto 20.30 miles with 1,168 feet of elevation gain/loss in 1 hour and 26 minutes at an average speed for 14.3 mph and a top speed of 21.7 mph when cruising downhill sections.
While it doesn’t outrun more expensive models with these speeds and range, it still delivers better performance than most entry-level electric bikes out there with similar battery capacity.
This is a fairly powerful bike with good acceleration and a 20 mph top speed. You can use the bike in full-electric/throttle mode or in its five pedal assist modes alongside pedaling with a powerful 350W brushless rear hub motor. It isn’t anywhere close to the most powerful we’ve reviewed, but it delivers a pleasant experience.
User Interface
The fantastic riding experience is backed by a truly intuitive user experience, consisting of ergonomic handlebar-mounted controls and a digital display. The controls are made up of a small handlebar-mounted unit attached to the left grip. They include: five buttons, power, backlight, info and + and -.
The power button is used to turn the bike’s power on and off, and you can also use the backlight button to turn the display screen’s backlight on or off, while the info button is used to scroll through different data fields at the bottom of the display. The right-hand grip has a standard twist throttle used to engage the throttle when the bike is set to full-electric mode.
Also, the bike has a digital display mounted in the right of the handlebar, just next to the stem. This location is very ideal when riding, as it displays a wide range of information at a glance. It displays current speed, remaining battery life, pedal-assist setting among others.
By pressing the info button on the controls, you can select what the bottom field shows, anything from average speed, max speed, trip distance, odometer, or elapsed time. The screen also comes with a backlight that comes handy at night or in challenging lighting conditions. It also has a headlight or use in these scenarios.
