Building a gaming computer is a rite of passage for any serious PC gamer, but sometimes its financially sensible to just have someone else do all the work. If you look at the CyberpowerPC Gamer Supreme Liquid Cool SLC8260A3, you’ll understand why getting a custom-built rig is much better than having to create one from scratch.
For starters, the Gamer SLC8260A3 is one of those pre-built systems that has the hardware to satisfy any PC gamer’s needs, living and breathing inside a nicely-styled case, with space for future upgrades and lots of connectivity options.
If you’re keen at diving head-first into the wonderous world of PC gaming, the Gamer Supreme with its AMD Ryzen 7 CPU and Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU, is a great place to start.
Design
The CyberpowerPC SLC8260A3 looks sleek, like its predecessor, the CyberpowerPC Gamer SLC8260A2. With a tempered glass side panel on the left side, you get to peer into the machinations of the PC, while LED lights illuminate and draw attention to its components and design accents. The front of the Gamer lights up with a trio of LED circles, just in case you forget for even a second this is a gamer’s computer.
The whole thing looks great, and at 18.5 x 8.2 x 18.7 inches, it will take some space on your desk, but the big chassis comes handy when you need to throw in some upgrade components. In fact, the desktop’s footprint is on-par with the iBUYPOWER Element 9260 and the smaller sibling, the CyberpowerPC Gamer GXiVR8060A10.
Ports
Port options are excellent, even though you don’t have USB-C port or Thunderbolt that are becoming pretty standard on high-end machines. On the front panel, you have easy access port – two USB Type-A 3.0 port, a headphone and microphone jack, a power button and a reset button, that sits next to a drive activity light.
The rear panel holds another six USB ports, an Ethernet port, a pair of legacy PS/2 ports for connecting your older mice and keyboard, audio combo jack. For video connectivity, you have a DisplayPort and an HDMI connector, as well as built-in Wi-Fi.
Also bundled into the package are a gaming mouse and keyboard, but you’ll have to buy a monitor separately. We recommend the 32-inch Samsung Odyssey G5 gaming monitor, with its 2560 x 1440 resolution, 1ms response time, 144HZ refresh rate and AMD FreeSync Premium support.
Performance
Though billed as a gaming pc, but with a 3.9Ghz Ryzen 3800X CPU, 16GB of RAM and a 1TB PCIe-NVMe solid state drive (SSD) storage, the CyberpowerPC Gamer Supreme is a heck of workhorse. You can use it for most (if not all) productivity tasks, including video encoding and photo editing. If you don’t mind the gaming aesthetic and the LEDs on the chassis, this is a machine that you can as a central PC in your small business or at home for entertainment given the high-end processors and graphics.
For gaming, the dedicated AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT is an ultimate answer to Intel’s Nvidia Turing 2080 chips. It arrived in the market when AMD was dominating CPU sales with the Ryzen 7 3700x and the flagship Ryzen 9 3900X, but it also competes with Intel chips favorably. Perhaps, that’s what makes the Radeon RX more appealing. And, apart from Radeon RX 5700, AMD has been taking the RDNA graphics architecture and making it a hit, projecting a direct shot at Nvidia’s flagship chips.
The result is a gaming chip with a combination of solid gaming performance and a host of other exciting features. Modern games play fine at high settings and 1080p resolution and you can even get away with smooth 1440p game play on select games – Assassin’s Creed Odyssey (71 fps); Shadow of the Tomb Raider (117 fps -High, 34 fps -Ultra) and Metro Exodus (73 fps – Ultra), just above the gaming desktop average of (94fps and 34 fps, respectively).
The Supreme SLC8260A3 earns a perfect score of 10 on the SteamVR performance test.
Bottom Line
At the end of the day, the CyberpowerPC Gamer Supreme we’ve reviewed is fine. If you take price or the current gaming PC market into consideration, it actually stands out as a pretty capable gaming rig. Again, we simply can’t ignore these things. Not only will you spend a huge wad of cash by building your own rig with the same hardware, but you will also spend more time collecting the hardware needed from builders.
It’s simply easy for us to recommend the CyberpowerPC Gamer Supreme Liquid Cool SLC8260A3 to anyone. If you need computing and gaming horsepower in a pretty chassis and a reasonable price, this machine has you covered.
