As long as you’re not looking for top-notch 4K gaming, the CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme is more than enough for your needs. The model we’re reviewing, the GXiVR8720A has a lot to offer for anyone willing to mostly stick to 1080p and 1440p gaming. We’ve reviewed the CyberpowerPC GXiVR8680A here before which had an Intel Core i7-13700KF and Nvidia GeForce RTX 4070 Ti GPU.
With the GXiVR8720A, CyberPowerPC is offering the same RTX 4070 Ti graphics card, but up the CPU performance with an Intel Core i9-13900KF chip for an enhanced performance boost. Whichever configuration you choose, you’re still getting great results whether you’re running Cyberpunk 2077 or the army-filled Total War: Warhammer III.
On whether this CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme is among the best gaming PCs out there somewhat depends on your individual needs and gaming prowess. However, if you need a gaming PC that performs as it should, you’ll have little to complain about for maybe wanting an extra port or two. Plus, at its price and configuration, it ranks among the best midrange gaming PCs available.

Design
As a desktop tower, the CyberpowerPC GXiVR8720A cuts a striking almost Sci-Fi figure with its all-white front with an orange accent. It helps that the PC is on the taller side, dwarfing HP’s more affordable Victus line.
As mentioned, the all-white design is accentuated by an RGB line on the front while the side glass panel allows you to ogle the internals in all its glory. And, yes, there’s lots of lighting bling dressing the interior of the case as well, including the fans and RAM sticks.
Front, back and top ventilation keeps the Gamer Xtreme VR cool with a total of six possible locations to maximize cooling. There are two USB-A ports alongside headphones and a microphone jack up front, though having at least one USB-C port could be nice.
In the rear are four USB 3.1 ports, two USB 2.0 and 5.1 channel audio out, and an ethernet port. That should be enough for a basic keyboard, mouse, headset, and webcam setup. On the RTX 4070 Ti card, there is a single HDMI port and two DisplayPort connections for dual monitor setups.
Included with the Gamer Xtreme is also a keyboard and mouse, which should suffice for starters. Gamers looking to get serious competitively are going to replace these bundled components for something better.
Performance
As with most gaming PCs fitted with Nvidia’s RTX 40 series GPUs, the CyberpowerPC Gamer Xtreme VR not only performs well with high-end PC titles but can also double as a productivity and creative/editing machine.
It handles titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042 fluently, with the former hitting over 150 fps on high settings. However, it gets a little shaky for Cyberpunk 2077 when you kick up the resolution to 4K, dropping the framerate to 48 fps without DLSS 3 active. Resident Evil 4 Remake drops as well but the framerate is still an excellent 64 on average. This tracks with the focus of the GXiVR8720A being on 1080p and QHD gaming, so having it run at 4K resolution isn’t ideal condition.
For everyday tasks – browsing, watching Netflix, emailing, programming – well, of course, there aren’t problems. Even playing games while doing most of those things at the same time doesn’t slow down the machine at all. If you need to use this PC for creative and editing projects, it would be worth investing in a monitor with a solid color gamut to take advantage of this PC. You can bundle the machine with the Sceptre C305B-200UN1, which offers a 2560 x 1080 resolution.
Buy it if…
You need a fantastic 1080p/1440p machine
Performance is at the heart of the CyberpowerPC GXiVR8720A. It can take on any task from general day-to-day use to running intensive gaming sessions. It’s perfect for old, new, and future games so that you won’t need any replacement soon.
You can’t resist some RGB goodness
If you want rich lighting options on your PC then Acer has you covered, as the lighting options are gorgeous and it looks beautiful than most gaming machines around.
Don’t buy it if…
You’re looking for the most-effective gaming PC
The CyberpowerPC GXiVR8720A is cheaper than most mainstream gaming machines from HP, Lenovo, or Alienware; but again, it isn’t the most affordable around, and understandably so. If you don’t have enough in your budget to fork out for its cheapest configuration, then there are more-than-decent cheaper alternatives to purchase instead.
