The Levoit Core 300 air purifier is a basic air purifier that boasts 3 fan speeds, a timer and a sleep mode. It comes in a pill-like design that is compact for storage and is pretty easy to use, but unfortunately, it lacks the fancy features you’d find on some expensive competitors like the Shark HP102 with Clean Sense IQ that tracks air quality and constantly adjust to maintain clean air in your home.
Even with only three fan speeds, this tiny air purifier comes at a very reasonable price, and it delivers the best bang for the buck in terms of design and performance, for anyone looking for an affordable air purifier for a small home.
Levoit is often considered one of the best air purifier manufacturers out there, and it’s not surprising that the brand’s midrange air purifier, the Levoit LAP-C601S-WUS has remained our favorite for a while now. With the Core 300, Levoit is offering an affordable, light and beautiful air purifier, but can it clean the air as efficiently as other air purifiers out there – let’s find out.
Design
The Levoit Air Purifier looks modern, is compact and has a sleek design that easily blends into nay living space. With its airplane turbine top and mesh bottom, it has this unique charm that’s appealing to the eye. The styling is fairly simple, it works as expected without looking obtrusive in the space its place. Just retire it to a corner, power it up, and watch it blend with your décor effortlessly.
Its simple design and dimensions (14.2 x 8.7 x 8.7 inches) make it suitable for use in bedrooms, offices, or smaller rooms. The Core 300 is constructed with a combination of high-quality plastic and metal, ensuring durability.
The air purifier has three different fan speeds to choose from, which I find is a little tight compared to what’s offered by competitors. While it lacks an auto mode in its feature set, it does have a night mode that reduces the fan noise to a gentle hum, alongside a button that turns of blinking lights on the top. Beyond that, there’s a clever timer which you can set to two, four, six or eight hours.
But unlike the Levoit LAP-C601S-WUS, the Core 300 isn’t going to increase or decrease its power depending on the air condition. It’s also not going to connect to any smart home devices which we find to be a major deal-breaker as most air purifiers are including that feature at this price point.
Outside the design, the pre-filter captures large particles like dust and pet hair, while the True HEPA filter captures smaller particles such as pollen, mold spores, and bacteria. Additionally, the activated carbon filter reduces odors from pets, cooking, and smoke, improving the overall air quality. The filters are replaceable and have a recommended lifespan of 6 to 8 months, depending on usage.
Ease of Use
The Levoit Core 300, like most home appliances is easy to set up and use. Out of the box, you just unscrew the lid from the base and remove the visible plastic bag from the filters. Then refi the lid and you’re done. The air purifier also comes with a quick startup guide that gives a detailed illustration of what the device can do – and a guide to the various buttons at the top.
The device offers three fan speed settings: low, medium, and high. The low setting provides a gentle airflow, while the high setting delivers more powerful purification. The intuitive touch control panel on the top of the unit allows for easy adjustment of settings and fan speed. Additionally, the built-in filter change indicator notifies you when it’s time to replace the filters, ensuring optimal performance at all times.
Performance
The Levoit Core 300 Air Purifier is ideal for small rooms of upto 225 square feet, which is about the size of an average bedroom, but it can as well handle a little more. It performs well when compared to some smaller air purifiers we’ve reviewed, but it isn’t as strong as the Airmega AP-1512HH or the Blueair Blue Pure 411 Auto, both of around the same size. It naturally doesn’t match larger air purifiers like the Blueair HeathProtect 7470i as well.
In part, the Levoit Core 300’s compact design limits performance to smaller-to-mid-size rooms, meaning it lacks the power or efficiency of the other, more expensive air purifiers we’ve reviewed before.

The device has a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 135 cubic feet per minute (CFM), meaning it can circulate fresh air several times in an hour, efficiently reducing airborne pollutants. For air purifiers, the higher the CADR, the larger its purification, and with its 360 degrees ai intake design, this tiny appliance doesn’t disappoint after all.
The three-stage filtration system works efficiently to remove a wide range of contaminants from the air. The pre-filter effectively captures larger particles, while the True HEPA filter eliminates 99.97% of particles as small as 0.3 microns, including allergens, dust mites, and pollen. The activated carbon filter targets household odors, smoke, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The combined effect of these filters results in cleaner and fresher indoor air.
As mentioned above, one notable feature of the Core 300 is its ultra-quiet operation. With its advanced motor and design, the noise level remains as low as 17 decibels in sleep mode, and 27 decibels in normal mode, but its remarkably quieter than larger Levoit purifiers. For reference, breathing is rated at around 10 decibels, so even at its highest modes, the Core 300 is still impressively quiet.
Bottom Line
The Levoit Air Purifier delivers exceptional performance in improving indoor air quality. With its compact design, powerful filtration system, and quiet operation, it is a reliable choice for those seeking cleaner and healthier air in their homes or offices.
The 3-stage filtration system effectively captures a wide range of pollutants, including allergens, dust, pet dander, and odors. The True HEPA filter and activated carbon filter work in tandem to provide thorough purification, ensuring a fresher environment for allergy sufferers and improving overall respiratory health.
That said, the Levoit Core 300 is only suited for small and medium-sized rooms, and it lacks the power to suck in and clean the air as quickly or efficiently as more expensive purifiers. If you need something for bigger rooms with smart features and remains compact, the Blueair Blue Pure 211i Max is an excellent alternative, but it costs more.
Overall, the Levoit Core 300 Air Purifier remains a very cute device with a lot of promise. It offers reliable performance, sleek design, and efficient purification, at a price that won’t dent your bank account. It’s our newest Editors’ Choice for budget air purifiers.
