As graphics cards in our PCs get ever more powerful, having a 4K (3840 x 2160 pixels) resolution monitor is a much viable option for many people, and the LG 32UD60-B is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a stylish and capable UHD display that’s ideal for both business and pleasure.
When you really want to view content at such a high resolution, a large screen comes really handy, to avoid squinting at tiny and miniscule icons, and with a 32-inch screen, the LG 32UD60-B certainly provides that, while avoiding being obnoxiously large – remember, this is a monitor meant for your desk, not a TV for the living room.
A simple yet elegant design
Design-wise the LG 32UD60-B look simple yet elegant. When you first look at it, you just realize the monitor is cut for work and productivity, free of those garish design accents on gaming displays, like the 27-inch LG 27GN800-B or the Acer Predator XB271HU. Here, LG focuses on a simple, functional design that allows for increased efficiency, and we can’t agree more.
At 32 inches, this is a large monitor, but thanks to its thin bezels surrounding the screen, the actual footprint isn’t that big, so it doesn’t feel inordinate on your desk.
The adjustable stand is easy to put together, supports height and swivel adjustments but lacks tilt adjustment. There’s a cable notch at the back of the curved stand, allowing for routing your cables without causing a mess of your desk space.
On the LG 32UD60-B, connectivity options are scarce, but acceptable for the work environment. All ports are located around the back, where you have an HDMI and DisplayPort 1.2 and a 3.5mm audio port. With HDMI 2.0 you can now use HDMI to display 4K visual at 60Hz, meaning you can plug a PS4 Pro or Xbox One X into the monitor and use it as a main display.
Decent 4K performance
As far as performance goes, the LG 32UD60-B has a strong selling point in its 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160), which offers excellent image quality. When working, this monitor offers a large amount of desktop real estate, meaning you can work on numerous windows and programs all at once.
The refresh rate is locked at 60Hz, we have many graphics able to drive 4K above 60 fps, especially the new Nvidia RTX 30 Series cards, but 60Hz still remains decent for most productivity tasks. Again, it does have AMD FreeSync support, which is good news for legions of creatives with an AMD GPU that want to do some gaming on the side.
The 32-inch screen size (which amounts to 708.4mm x 398.5mm display area) means that, irrespective of the high resolution, text, icons and other visual elements aren’t too small, with 300 nits peak brightness and fast 4ms response time.
Once again, the panel type is VA with a native contrast of 3000:1. Just like IPS panels, this ensures viewing angles remain wide, something you’ll find essential for a screen this size, especially when sitting infront of it on a desk as it makes up almost all of your peripheral vision.
Good color accuracy, and some gaming
With LG pitching this as a monitor for professionals, color accuracy at any angle is important, and the 95% DCI-P3 color gamut adheres to industry standards. Still, the straightforward design and breadth of features make the LG 32UD60-B a good enough monitor for productivity, while AMD Freesync support allow it to perform as a great entertainment screen as well.
That said, the 60Hz refresh rate won’t impress any gamers looking for higher refresh rates and G-Sync technology. But if you’ll be playing modern games at 4K, 60Hz is pretty much all you need. However, the 4ms response time will be too painful for people who need instant reflexes in online games; a gaming monitor like the Acer Predator XB273K with a 1ms response time will be ideal for such situations.
LG 32UD60-B Review | Verdict
Monitors like the 32-inch LG 32UD60-B are reminiscent of a right 4K future. It performs brilliantly, and the large screen size gives insight into how a large monitor can improve your productivity. Well, its port offering is narrow, but that’s not a reason not to buy – HDMI and DisplayPort are still sufficient.
Also, the LG 32UD60-B does a decent job showing off media and games at 4K (despite the low 4ms response time), so don’t dismiss it because of its professional-focused design and features.
