The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is the latest version of the company’s customizable wireless gaming mouse that builds on an already popular Razer Basilisk Ultimate, but now offers even better performance and Qi wireless charging as well as an optional Mouse Dock Pro. Like its other siblings the Razer Deathstalker V2 Pro and the Razer Deathadder V3 Pro, the Basilisk V3 Pro now comes fully armored to beat rivals, especially in design, versatility, and even speed.
However, the new Razer Basilisk V3 Pro shouldn’t be confused with the humble Deathadder V3 Pro, this new mouse comes fully-loaded, boasting customizable RGB lighting, 10+1 buttons, a next-generation scroll wheel with useful three scroll modes, and it charges fast than your ordinary gaming mouse via the new mouse Dock Pro and puck.
The Basilisk V3 Pro adds some weight over the super-light Deathadder V3 Pro with the new features. And, it’s also pricier, but considering the extra features you’re getting, that cost is easily justified.
If you’re looking for a mouse that delivers smooth and effortless gaming performance, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is certainly for you. Plus, it offers a lot more useful features than most peers in its class.
Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Review: Design
There’s a lot to like about the Basilisk V3 Pro because Razer has put all its cutting-edge technology into one mouse. Design is the main takeaway: This gaming mouse packs everything that’s class-leading or even aesthetically into a sleek design.
The result is a right-handed ergonomic design with a signature thumb rest for less finger drag and smoother clicks when gaming. We’ve seen the thumb rest on many top-tier mice, including the Basilisk Ultimate and the Logitech MX Master series. On the Basilisk V3 Pro, the thumb rest makes for a comfortable gaming experience as it supports your thumb the entire time.
Razer opted for an identical chassis design for both the Basilisk Ultimate and the newer Basilisk V3 Pro, you’ll be hard-pressed to tell them apart when placed side by side. However, all the tech has been updated and refreshed on the inside, especially that wireless charging dock.
Away from design, the new 2022 Basilisk V3 Pro boasts some unique features that were not available in its siblings, including:
- HyperScroll Tilt Wheel: This allows you to choose between Tactile scrolling (clicky), Smart-Reel, or Free-Spin Cycling.
- Up to 13-zone Chroma RGB: The Basilisk V3 Pro now has a full under glow, not present in the Basilisk Ultimate.
- It now has 10+ 1 Programmable buttons
- A Razer Focus Pro 30K Optical Sensor
- Razer HyperSpeed Wireless: in default, it has a 1,000Hz polling rate, but can be overclocked to 4,000Hz.
- Razer Optical Mouse Switches Gen-3
- It supports next-generation Qi wireless charging via the optional Mouse Dock Pro (sold separately)
The Basilisk V3 Pro offers great ergonomics for both palm and claw grips, and decent overall grip support even if this mouse is a little heavier than most mice in its class. It indeed looks unique with a bump in the middle and deep valleys on both the left and right buttons, and claw grip gamers will be very happy with the rubberized textured side grips that hold their fingers in place.
The Basilisk V3 Pro’s physical design tapers off to a thinner back, which makes it feel less bulky but allows for easier access to all the buttons, including the DPI up and down buttons that you can access beneath the scroll wheel. As mentioned above, the scroll wheel allows for three modes of use, and as usual.
The Synapse software comes in handy for customizations. You can use it to personalize that 13-zone Chrome RGB lighting, and even the trim for the edges of the mouse, and give them a nice underglow. That software also lets you adjust things like DPI presets (up to five), change the polling rate (125Hz, 500Hz, and 1000Hz), and finally, remap or assign a macro to those buttons.
Razer Basilisk V3 Pro Review: Performance
Along with a sleek, redesigned aesthetic, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro delivers top-notch performance. After all, you’re paying top money for a mouse, so it better live up to the expectations. Whether you’re just scrolling your AAA titles or repulsing enemies in in Cyberpunk 2077, this mouse delivers fast, smooth, and effortless movement.
At higher DPI, the Basilisk V3 Pro feels like a Ferrari on the tracks. It’s free of any noticeable lags, thanks to Razer’s HyperSpeed Wireless that delivers low latency and that Focus Pro 30K sensors push high accuracy tacking – but most non-pro gamers will find the 30K DPI a bit overkill. The buttons on the mouse are not only satisfying to press but also responsive and very accurate.
Perhaps the only issue on this mouse is the feet, which, for some reason don’t work as fine with leather mice or desk pads, especially when you factor in its weight. You’ll experience some drag here, which can be a bit limiting especially when playing fast-paced games, or if you have pre-existing wrist issues. However, on pretty every other mouse pad, the movement should be effortless.

Once again, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro doesn’t get as light as, let’s say, the Deathadder V3 Pro, but that doesn’t interfere with your gaming. If you’re coming from a lightweight gaming mouse, you just have to get used to it for a couple of days.
Charging is fast, and if you opt to buy it along with the Razer Mouse Dock Pro, you get wireless charging as well. The accessory will cost you some extra money, but it’s well worth investing in and not only for the convenience, but it also offers. We will do a stand-alone review for the Razer Mouse Dock Pro, but for now, just know it doubles as a wireless dongle for your mouse, meaning it saves you a port.
Should I buy the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro?
The Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is the ‘McLaren’ of gaming mice right now, and the Mouse Dock Pro adds to its already fantastic profile. There’s nothing else out there that packs this much into a mouse. Ergonomics are simply out of this world, the design is worlds ahead of the Logitech G604, you get slick-looking RGB, and the new wireless charging makes this a masterpiece.
Additionally, it comes with a new shifting scroll which is much smoother than I expected. To that, add features like a 30K sensor and 4,000 HyperPolling (the highest and fastest available) and you can’t get any much better than this. Not today, and at least not tomorrow.
The only concern is that apart from being the most gaming-centric mouse and dock, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro happens to be the most expensive mouse, at least to my knowledge. And that brings up the question as to whether you need all the Basilisk V3 Pro offers. To be honest: Most people will find a 30,000 DPI or 4,000Hz HyperPolling to be overkill and these are high-end performance ratings that many won’t even need to use for gaming or productivity.
Overall, for pro gamers or anybody who wants the best, the Razer Basilisk V3 Pro is easily the best all-around mouse you can buy right now, making it a worthwhile investment. It’s our new Editors’ Choice for high-end gaming mice.
