Samsung is preparing for its yearly update to the A-series models of its Galaxy phone. Typically – especially at the higher end of the range, most A series devices the some of the best features of the flagship Galaxy S range but offer them at a more affordable package.
With the Samsung Galaxy S22 launch done and dusted, leaks and rumors surrounding the company’s more affordable, mid-range Galaxy A lineup are at a fever pitch. Recent reports have illustrated the Galaxy A53 5G, but we know that Samsung has the Galaxy A73 in the works as well, which is positioned right below the Galaxy S lineup in terms of price and specs.
Several reliable revealers have showcased the A73 in official-looking press renders detailing some of its key specs and changes.
This is everything we know so far about Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy A73.
Display
- 6.7-inch
- 2400 x 1080 resolution
- 90Hz ~ 120Hz refresh rate
As shared by 91Mobiles, the press render depicts a Galaxy A73 that shares the same design as its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A72. The leak points to the display to be a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel, almost the same 6.6-inch size as its predecessor.
If Samsung sticks with the same approach as on the A72, then the A73 will sport a Full HD+ (1080 x 2400) resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate, however, tipster Shadow_Leak suggests the phone will make the ump to 120Hz.
Release date and price
- March or April 2022.
- Around £330/$450.
Currently, there’s no official release date for the Samsung Galaxy A73, and even with the Mobile World Congress behind us at the end of February, the new series devices weren’t unveiled at the company’s even on 27 February 2022.
Going by its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy A72 was launched in March 2021 so a reveal at Mobile World Congress would be close to that timeline. There’s been talk of the A73 being delayed to a month after the A53 launches, suggesting it will be released in April.
For the price, rumors suggest it will cost £330, which is around $450. That said, the Galaxy A72 was over £400 in the UK, so it’s more likely the Samsung A73 will fall into a similar price regime.
Hardware and Specs
- Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G
- 8GB RAM
- 128GB storage
- 5000mAh
Sources also claim the Galaxy A73 will be running on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G chipset, supported by 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Currently, there’s no word on whether microSD for storage expansion will be available, but since it’s not offered on the S22 range, then it’s certainly possible the A73 will also not offer it.
In terms of battery capacity, the Samsung Galaxy A73 will most certainly come with a 5000mAh battery capacity with support for 33W fast charging. There has also been talk of 25W charging, but it remains a little unclear for now.
Cameras
- Quad rear camera
- 108mp main sensor
Not much has been said regarding the cameras expected to be packed into the Galaxy A73, though a quad rear setup is expected and the main camera is said to be 108-megapixels.
