The Sun Joe SPX3000 is an electric pressure washer designed for those looking for a powerful cleaning tool at home. While there are lots of pressure washers out there for every budget, selecting one that’s powerful enough for your home needs and within budget can be hectic. Now, with the SPX3000, you’re getting an affordable tool designed to tackle grime and tidy up backyards, driveways, patios, cars, and pretty much anything else.
Of course, this isn’t the most affordable pressure washer out there, there are cheaper options like the Greenworks 1500 that costs well under $100, but it doesn’t deliver the same throughput as the SPX3000. Still, it costs much less than some of the most premium brands like our Editors’ choice, the Karcher K5 Premium; and it comes in a stylish design and is very easy to move around the compound.
With the Sun Joe pressure washer SPX3000, you don’t have to top up with fuel, all you need is an electrical socket or extension cable nearby and you’re ready to use this machine. We’ve reviewed lots of pressure washers, let’s see how this electric pressure washer handles cleaning tasks.
About the Sun Joe SPX3000
The Sun Joe is available for under $200, adding to the long list of affordable home-use pressure washers. Even at this price point, the Sun Joe SPX3000 easily stands out of the crowd with a CSA Group certification backed by a two-year manufacturer warranty. That counts for a lot at a time when the market is filled with lots of knock-offs that can be had for much less, but come void of warranty.
For the versatility, powerful washing performance, and reasonable pricing, it isn’t surprising to us that the Sun Joe SPX3000 is the company’s best-selling model for years now.
As mentioned, the SPX3000 is powered by an electric motor, and while it delivers powerful thrusts, it remains quieter than similar gas-powered washers. During use, it’s audible but it isn’t deafening loud to mute conversations in-between washes. Best of all, the motor stops running and goes silent until you start it up again. Sun Joe calls this feature Total Stop System, or TSS – we’ve seen the same in Karcher’s electric washers as well.

Setup – little assembly needed
The Sun Joe arrives partially assembled, so you won’t spend a. lot of time putting individual parts together. It takes around 30 minutes to go from unboxing the product to running your first cleaning task. The assembly includes attaching holders for the wand, putting the soap bottles in place, and attaching the hose holder – all these pieces are made from heavy-duty plastic, and the power washer attaches with small screws.
Next, attach the metal spray wand to the plastic trigger gun, and twist both the trigger gun and the spray wand together until they are firm, but don’t make it so tight that you sever the plastic threads. Finally, you just have to connect a hose that carries high-pressure water from the washer to the trigger. Before using the electric washer, remember to connect the garden hose adapter to the water inlet on the front.
Features – Well kitted-out for the home
While the Sun Joe SPX3000 pressure washer is fairly affordable, it is incredibly powerful to tackle some of the toughest cleaning tasks around the home – it’s ideal for everything from cars to driveways. It features a maximum pressure of 2,030 PSI and a 1.76 flow rate, making it one of the most reliable pressure washers in the sub-$200 category. Still, it gets competition from the RYOBI RY14122 which delivers a more powerful wash for around the same price.
This electric-powered pressure washer comes with a 34-inch spray wand, which is enough to reach most areas in the compound. Other handy features of the Sun Joe SPX300 include the dual detergent tanks, which let you use two different types of detergents – with each designed for different cleaning jobs. Both tanks are removable, meaning you can fill them up or wash them with ease.
For accessories, the Sun Joe SPX300 pressure washer arrives with a 20-foot pressure hose, a clean-out tool, and five spray tips that connect to the end of the hose.
Design – Very likable, and reliable
Unlike most entry-level pressure washers out there, Sun Joe didn’t cut many corners in designing and equipping the SPX3000. For instance, most of the washers we’ve reviewed at this price range come with four nozzles, but the SPX3000 debuts with five: a powerful 0-degree nozzle, two mid-range 15-degree and 25-degree nozzles, a smooth 40-degree option, and a soap nozzle. Attaching all these nozzles is very easy thanks to the quick connection at the end of the wand.
Sun Joe cleverly uses a replaceable metal garden hose to connect a garden hose to the electric washer. If you experience any leaks, you can replace the hose adapter for little money.
Using the Sun Joe power washer is easy and even teens in your home will not have problems operating it. The included wand is very lightweight, and the pressure isn’t so strong that it will throw you off balance. Just press the trigger on the handle and point it to where you want to clean.
When you need to move it to a new location, the oversized wheels make everything seamless. It moves easily over grass, pavement, and smooth surfaces. The wheels are made of plastic, meaning they aren’t as rugged as what you have on competing models.
I still have an issue with the washer’s onboard hose storage. Yes, the wand stores securely on the unit, but there’s no good place to store the 20-foot hose. You could try coiling it on the back or hanging it on the front, you just have to be lucky if it doesn’t fall off. The same issue applies to the 35-foot electrical cord, which similarly doesn’t hang firmly on the unit.
Performance – Handles most cleaning jobs fine
The Sun Joe pressure washer SPX3000 is an impressive piece of kit – provided you approach it with the right expectations. A 2,030 PSI washer with 1.76 GPM (gallons per minute) water flow is powerful for most home cleaning tasks, but that doesn’t make it a viable commercial alternative. As designed, this is a medium-duty washer, designed for small jobs, and can be used to clean outdoor furniture, vehicles, and bikes. It’s also ideal for driveways, decks, and patios – as long as they are small in size.
It will be the best appliance for cleaning your porch furniture, some white picket fencing, and even your outdoor grills. Even if your grills are caked with grime and grease, with the right detergent the Sun Joe cuts through with ease. Also, expect it to remove only superficial dirt from your porch furniture and siding without causing any damage.
Since the SPX300 comes with different nozzles, it comes in handy for cleaning driveways, especially the narrow nozzle does a good job when held close to the ground. Just keep in mind that it only suffices for small spaces, a more powerful gas power washer like the Westinghouse WPX3400 (3400 PSI) will be ideal for bigger jobs.
Competition – Similar alternatives to consider
Karcher K5 Premium: The Karcher K5 Premium is a small yet powerful pressure washer, that offers powerful cleaning power for your outdoor surfaces. Even with its compact size, it packs a strong motor and its 2000-PSI output makes it one of the most powerful washers out there. Well, it cost slightly more than the Sun Joe SPX3000, but it still offers some superior features including the sturdy, durable design, a burst 2000-PSI at 1.4GPM with a max 500 max flow rate, and a 25ft high-pressure hose to tackle different surfaces. Also, it’s designed to work with other Karcher accessories for cleaning different surfaces, so you can expect lots of power and punch from this electric washer to clean practically anything.
Simpson MegaShot MSH3125 Gas Pressure Washer: This gas-powered washer costs a lot more than the Sun Joe, but for the extra bucks you’re getting a powerful washer that can handle any task you throw at it. The Simpson MegaShot MSH3125 delivers a punch to a Honda GC190 Engine, that results in 3200 PSI at 2.5GPM for cleaning the toughest of surfaces in your home and comes with a 25ft Morflex hose that’s made to last alongside 5QC nozzles for cleaning different surfaces.
Should you buy it?
If you’re looking for an affordable yet powerful pressure washer, the Sun Joe SPX3000 is all you could need. Sun Joe has a proven record of handling a variety of light-to-medium residential cleaning and has performed well for tough outdoor jobs like paving stone and decking. We like that the SPX3000 is a single unit that works out of the box and does not require a lot of extra accessory purchases to tackle different cleaning jobs across your home.
Despite its short wand, it’s durable and easily portable on wheels around the home. More importantly, it’s one of the quieter electric pressure washers on the market, making it a great choice for suburban residences and ensuring it will not disturb your neighbors.
Overall, the Sun Joe SPX3000 pressure washer is high-performance and offers good value for money. It’s a winner for us.
