It is the dream of every manufacturer in the world of Tech that the release of their new product hits the market with a bang, unfortunately some of them go unnoticed due to the fact that there are similar or better products already in the market. The Jumper Ezbook 2 could have easily gone unnoticed were it not for its low price tag, premium looks, great features and specifications.
This lightweight Ultrabook is powered by Intel Cherry Trail X5-Z8300 Quad Core 1.34GHz, coupled with 4GB of RAM and a massive 64GB SSD of internal storage. The laptop also boasts of a Full HD 14 inch display and a long lasting battery life that lets you get the best out of it.
The laptop is fast and responsive and is usable with almost any software given that it is preinstalled with the latest Windows 10 Home Operating System. This is a lightweight, thin, slim and sleek device that will appeal to folks who take pride in a stylish device for handling both home and official tasks such as web browsing, spreadsheets, document editing, watching movies and videos in Full HD.
Design and Build
The claim to fame for this Jumper Ezbook 2 lies on its design and looks that match those of a MacBook Air. The laptop comes with an aluminum alloy cover silver in color giving the laptop a premium look. It measures 13.64 x 9.04 x 0.69 inches and weighs 1.180kg, the notebook is too light that I could occasionally open my backpack to confirm if it is still intact.
The 14-inch display comes with a resolution of 1920x1080p full HD screen with a 16:9 ratio that features saturated colors and vivid image quality. This is an attractive feature that differentiates the laptop from the Macbook Air which comes with a resolution of 1366 x 768 and 11.6 inch display. You will find the screen clear with detail when Watching Videos in Full HD thus making the experience enjoyable.
The non-backlit keyboard has a good key travel for easy and comfortable use of the keyboard while typing. Some features worth noting is the Energy saving backlit LOGO that adds some aesthetic value to the Jumper.
Connectivity
The connectivity department is well staffed as it includes one USB 2.0 port and USB 3.0 port that provides fast data transfer and is capable of powering external hard drives. There is a Mini SD card slot that supports up to 128GB, a mini HDMI slot that will allow you to extend the display to large screens such as HDTVs, Projectors and monitors to watch your movie or for a presentation.
There is also a 3.5mm Headphone jackpot to plug in your earphones listen to your music and movies without disturbing others in the room or while travelling. For internet connectivity, you get Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n wireless connectivity that is not as fast as the latest Wi-Fi 802.11ac but it will still serve you well. There is also Bluetooth 4.0 for connecting with compatible devices for sharing and transfer of documents.
As expected, the Jumper does not come with an in-built optical drive, to keep the laptop light and moving in line with the changing technology that prefers the use of external Hard Drives. However, if you still have CDs and DVDs you want to copy and write you will have to consider purchasing an external optical drive. There is a 1.3MP webcam with an integrated microphone that will come in handy when chatting with friends and family through skype.
Performance
Under the hood, the Jumper houses an Intel Cherry Trail X5-Z8300 Quad Core 1.34GHz processor, a low voltage, 14nm, quad core mobile processor with 2MB of cache that is capable of handling light multitasking well. We could have loved to see a Z8500 or Z8700, that is more powerful, but then again we won’t complain considering the price tag.
There is 4GB DDR3L RAM system memory on board and 64GB of SSD internal storage. This features work well towards offering an impressive performance, as the jumper is capable of handling a several computing tasks fast without slowing down. It handles tasks such as web surfing, editing of documents using office apps and watching of high definition videos seamlessly.
The gamers and those into video editing and other demanding tasks will not find this laptop to be an option as it comes with a basic integrated Intel HD Graphics GPU. However, the laptop is capable of handling some demanding tasks such as light coding without any major issue but it is good if it is left to handle the basic tasks.
The battery capacity is another win for this laptop, the Jumper comes with 10000mAh, a rare occurrence for entry level laptops as a majority hardly make it past 3 hours. In this case, you get up to 6 hours of usage per charge therefore, you don’t have to carry the power adapter around.
Conclusion
The Jumper Ezbook 2 is an entry level laptop with premium looks that offers a decent performance. The laptop combines some of the unexpected features in a budget laptop such as a 14-inch Full HD display, and a 10000mAh battery capacity thereby raising the bar for entry level laptops.
